  3. A generation of kids not reading books is a generation that won't learn how to imagine being in someone else's shoes and understand how or why they feel the way they do, in essence, empathy. Kids today delegate all their writing, thinking and creative expression (art) to machines (tablets, phones) and they're going to wake up one day and discover they can no longer think or write or express themselves creatively (make art) because their brain muscles were not exercised and hence became flaccid. This is because you cannot think if you do not read. Thoughts do actually increase brain mass because they involve energy and chemical reactions which have mass while creative expression (art) increases the IQ points. Let's encourage our kids to read. The best way is to model it for them. Children don't listen to what we say, they watch what we do.
